GM3 (formerly South32 Illawarra Metallurgical Coal) offers a unique opportunity for you to learn your trade below the surface and create a career pathway in the mining and metals industry.
We partner with GM3 to offer apprenticeships at their Appin and Dendrobium underground mine sites, alongside their West Cliff and Dendrobium Coal preparation plants. Apprenticeships are available in the electrical, mechanical, and fabrication trades.
As an apprentice with GM3, your work will take you underground, where you will gain the skills and experience you need to compliment the completion of your trade qualification.

You’ll work alongside experienced tradespeople, contributing to the production of premium-quality coking coal for steelmaking and working with a range of equipment and technology.
Throughout your training, you’ll also receive mentoring and support from a dedicated Zeal Futures Workforce Solutions Specialist, who will ensure you are equipped to get the most out of your apprenticeship experience.
