Application tips
Land your apprenticeship or traineeship.
At Zeal Futures, we pride ourselves on matching the right person to the job. That’s why we hire apprentices and trainees through our proven recruitment process, providing support to our candidates along the way.
Our recruitment process.
As part of your application, you’ll input your details through our online application form and attach your resume and cover letter. In your application, you should tell us a bit about yourself, your skills and qualifications, previous work experience, and why you want the apprenticeship or traineeship.
Once your application is received and reviewed by our recruitment team, you may be invited in for an interview with a Zeal Futures Workforce Solutions Specialist. From there, the process may involve a second stage interview with the host employer, a pre-employment medical, aptitude testing, reference checks, background checks (e.g. Police Check) and finally, an official offer of employment.
Our team of experts are available through the whole process to answer any questions you have or provides updates on where your application is up to.
Resume.
Your resume is an overview of you. It should include your:
Name and contact details
Work-related goals or aspirations
Key skills and interests
Previous work experience
Education & qualifications
References (2-3, including at least one work-related reference)
Your resume should be clear and well-formatted. Click here for an example of what a polished resume looks like.
Cover letter.
Your cover letter is your opportunity to tell us why you want the role you’re applying for.
In your cover letter, you should address the selection criteria, which will be listed in each job ad. You should tell us how your existing skills and experience or keen interest in the role make you the right candidate.
Make sure you check the spelling, grammar, and formatting of your cover letter so it is easy to read. Click here for an example of what a polished cover letter looks like.
Interview.
If your application is successful in the first stage, you may be invited in for an interview with Zeal Futures and the host employer of the apprenticeship or traineeship you’re applying for. Here are some tips to help with your interview.
Do your research – learn about the role you’re applying for, what duties you may be doing, as well as the host employer if they are listed in the ad.
Bring a copy of your documents – you may have already supplied them, but bring a copy of your Driver’s Licence, resume, and any relevant qualifications for the interviewer to take a copy of if needed.
Come prepared – think of some examples you can use to answer interview questions, such as a time you’ve had to problem solve or complete a task outside your duties in a work environment.
Dress appropriately – wear professional attire, such as a shirt or blouse, pants or skirt, and appropriate shoes.
Arrive early – allow an extra 15 minutes so you can get to the interview early and be prepared to greet the interviewer/s.
Be engaged – answer interview questions honestly, provide examples, speak confidently, and ask any questions you have when prompted.
After your interview/s, there may be a few more steps in the recruitment process until the final offer of employment.
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get the job – ask for feedback and continue applying for roles you’re interested in.
