Frequently asked questions.
How long is an apprenticeship or traineeship?
Apprenticeships are typically 4 years, while traineeships are generally 1-2 years, depending on the qualification. There is also the potential for early completion if you complete your formal training early.
If you are a high-school student, you also have the option to complete stage 1 of a school-based training program to kickstart your career earlier and leverage your transferable skills.
Do I get paid while completing an apprenticeship or traineeship?
Yes. At Zeal Futures, all apprenticeships and traineeships are paid employment positions. Apprentices and trainees will be paid weekly based on relevant industry awards, with some of our host employers even paying apprentices and trainees above-award rates.
Will I get time at work to complete my qualification?
3 hours per week are allocated to trainees to enable them to complete their studies at work. For apprentices attending their Registered Training Organisation, that could look like one day per week, or a block release period.
You can discuss this with your Zeal Futures Workforce Solutions Specialist and your host supervisor when scheduling your program.
Does my course count towards my HSC?
Yes. Eligible course units within your formal qualification will contribute by weight to the completion of your HSC. Our Workforce Solutions Specialists and your school career advisor can help you schedule your program to make the most of your qualification while completing your high school studies.
